FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
How do I apply for an ADHD Assessment?
To apply for an Adult ADHD Assessment, please visit our "ADHD Assessments" page on our website. Fill out the online application form with your personal details, which include a brief description of your symptoms. Once submitted, our team will review our application and contact you to schedule an appointment.
Who can apply for an ADHD Assessment?
Anyone who is 18 years of age or older and suspects they may have ADHD can apply for an assessment. We welcome self-referrals as well as referrals from healthcare professionals. If you have a history of ADHD symptoms or have been advised by a healthcare provider to seek an assessment, you are eligible to apply.
How long does the ADHD Assessment process take?
The assessment process typically takes about 3-6 weeks from the time you submit your application. This includes the initial review, scheduling of appointments, completing the assessments, and receiving the final report. We strive to provide timely evaluations while ensuring a thorough and comprehensive assessment. (Please note: this is subject to change during periods of high intake for assessments and you will be notified of any expected changes to this timeline in the response to your initial application).
How long are the appointments for the ADHD Assessment?
Appointments for ADHD testing can vary in length depending on the specific test and interviews required. Generally you can expect each appointment to last between 1 to 3 hours. Multiple appointments may be needed to complete the assessment process, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of your symptoms and history.
Following the completion of a referral form on your website, the ADHD Assessment structure consists of an email or call from the CBT Niagara Assessment team to initiate the intake process. Then appointments are made for the completion of psychometric testing, clinical interviews with both a psychometrist and psychologist, followed by a debrief meeting to discuss assessment results and treatment plan recommendations.
How much will the testing cost? Is the cost covered by insurance providers or OHIP?
The cost of ADHD testing varies depending on the complexity of the assessment. At CBT Niagara, we believe that treatment should be accessible to all. Our team is dedicated to finding a solution that works best for you — let us know if you would like to discuss a payment plan for your assessment.
Some insurance providers may cover part or all of your assessment costs. We recommend contacting your insurance provider prior to applying for assessments or treatment through our clinic, in order to determine your coverage parameters. Our billing team can also assist you with any questions regarding payment options and insurance claims. Please note that our office does not file claims in office for private insurance, payment must be made to CBT Niagara and then reimbursed by any private insurance.
